Zero Waste Marin

Zero Waste Marin is the formal name for the Marin Hazardous and  Solid Waste Joint Powers Authority (JPA), which is comprised of the city and town managers of Belvedere, Corte Madera, Fairfax, Larkspur, Mill Valley, Novato, Ross, San Anselmo, San Rafael, Sausalito and Tiburon and the County of Marin. Zero Waste Marin ensures Marin’s compliance with state recycling mandates – all while educating the citizens and businesses of Marin.

Sustainable Marin

Sustainable Marin is a non-profit organization of volunteers who advocate and educate about sustainability at the County level in Marin. Sustainable Marin is the mother ship for various chapters, projects, and partners throughout Marin including Sustainable Mill Valley, Sustainable Novato and Sustainable San Rafael.

MarinCan

MarinCAN is a community-driven campaign to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, prepare for climate change impacts, and meaningfully address and integrate equity. MarinCAN works with Marin County residents, businesses, organizations, agencies, and local governments to design and implement local climate change solutions in 6 Focus Areas: renewable energy, transportation, building and infrastructure, local food and food waste, carbon sequestration, and climate resilient communities.

Zero Waste Home

Painted Bins

Painted Bins, a project of Sustainable Marin, helps reduce food waste in public areas through the installation of food scrap receptacles with school children’s artwork that tell a story about the importance of composting. In addition to the education provided by the artwork, QR codes provide access to information about composting, food waste, and climate change.

Cal Rycycle

The official site of California’s Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRycycle) that includes information on programs that are important to the long-term vitality of California’s environment and economy.
